SEASON FINALE AROUND THE CORNER FOR ROCKY MOUNTAIN PROKART CHALLENGE

8/15/2013

The Track at Centennial facility set to welcome final two rounds and season banquet for series

Article By: Superkarts! USA

TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA (August 15, 2013) – It has been an eye-opening season for the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge. The Superkarts! USA and US Rotax Max Challenge regional program will host its fourth and final weekend on August 23-25 at The Track at Centennial in Colorado. The sixth and seventh rounds of the series will be contested, and the best six of seven championship chases will come to a close. The 2013 Rocky Mountain PKC program will have visited four different and unique facilities, joining the karting communities of Utah and Colorado along with the surrounding areas, while welcoming many of the top national drivers.

The upcoming series finale will take the teams and competitors to a fairly new facility, located in the heart of the metro-Denver area. The Track at Centennial has hosted the 2007 United States Rotax Grand Nationals along with the 2012 Pan-American Challenge, and now welcomes back the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge. The 8/10-mile course, opened in 2006, is located next to the Centennial Airport and boasts 21 turns and 24-foot elevation.

Highlighting the final weekend will be the year-end awards ceremony, set for Sunday, August 25 at the Embassy Suites ‘Colorado Ballroom’ in Centennial, Colorado. From 7:30pm to 10pm, competitors along with their families and friends can enjoy a relaxing evening of celebration for the 2013 Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge. The championship banquet will be hosted by the series, its many supporters, its regional director Stan Bryniarski and emcee Tony LaPorta. Awards and prizes will be presented to the top three in the championship standings for each class (with the exception of top two in TaG Junior and only first place in S3, S5 and Rotax Junior). Nearly $12,000 in awards and prizes are set to be handed out on the evening, with all attendees eligible for exciting raffles. The cost will be $25 per person, with children five and under free, including a buffet-style dinner if purchased at the SKUSA Rocky Mountain Store prior to Wednesday, August 21 at Midnight. Banquet tickets may be available at the track for $35, but seats are not guaranteed to be available unless purchased by the August 21 deadline.

The fight in S1 Pro Stock Moto has four drivers within 200 points, and with two rounds on the schedule for The Track, it’s anyone’s fight. Christian Bird has come on late on the season, and taken over the point lead ahead of Utah drivers Tyler Bennett and Mike Beeny. Fellow Colorado driver Sabré Cook is fourth in the hunt, but her ability to compete at the finale will depend on her recovery from gall bladder surgery at the end of July. The S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto championship is down to just two drivers, both looking for the guaranteed starting spot on Super Sunday for the SKUSA SuperNationals XVII. Factoring in the drop, it’s just Christian Schureman and Ben Schermerhorn in the chase. Schureman leads by 15 points over his fellow Colorado driver, with two full rounds of racing ahead of them.

With the best six of seven races counted toward the final championship standings, four drivers remain in the hunt in the competitive S4 Master Stock Moto category. On the season, three different drivers have won in five rounds, with round three winner David Conyers at the top. He leads by 36 points over Jet Davis. Double race winner Justin Peck is third and Wyoming driver Scott Allen fourth, all with a shot at the title. Lauren Stark has locked up the S3 Novice Stock Moto championship, and Duncan Biles leads the S5 Junior Stock Moto chase although Evan Roshak is still in contention.

Payton Durrant has a stranglehold on the TaG Cadet division, winning four of the five rounds on 2013. The Utah driver will look to defend a host of Colorado drivers looking to better his results and have a shot at the top of the standings. Just 130 points separate Mike Urban and Bob Rodrick in the TaG Master championship chase. Jason Dempster and Angus Watkins have the advantage in the TaG Senior and TaG Junior divisions.

In United States Rotax Max Challenge competition, the Mini Max title will go down to the wire with four drivers within 200 points. Derek Deslauriers sits at the top over Everest Fedler, Cody Dempster and Tevin Robbins in the hunt. Alexis Apodaca has a solid lead at the top of the order in the Micro Max division, as does Max Fedler in Rotax Junior and Max Mallinen in Rotax Senior.

Pre-registration will close on Monday, August 19 at midnight, so racers have just a few days to submit their entry for a discount at SKUSA Rocky Mountain Store. Hotel rooms are available at the host hotel - Embassy Suites Hotels in Centennial. Reserved and unreserved pit spaces will be available through ‘The Track at Centennial’, with move-in beginning on Thursday evening, August 22. Rocky Mountain PKC sponsors are asked to contact Stan Bryniarski of Superkarts! USA for special parking reservations. All information regarding the weekend can be found on the SKUSA Rocky Mountain event page.

The Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge would like to recognize the following supporters for the 2013 season: American Medical Response, Falcone Custom Homes, CRG-USA, Miller Motorsports Park, Billet Performance, Woodsource, Unser Racing, Honda Performance Development, SDB Promotions and Karting Coach.
