"P1 Engines powered drivers claim two podium finishes in Rosamond, California"

March 13, 2013 - Continuing their assault on the 2013 SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) ProKart Challenge, P1 powered drivers staked their claim to several podium results. Heading to the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California over the March 1-2 weekend for round two of the six round series, P1 Engines closed the weekend competition with more strong finishes and podium results.

In a large field of 32 TaG Senior competitors, Austin Elliott would add a podium result for P1 powered drivers after earning second place honors in round one. Qualifying outside the top-ten in the 12th place, Elliott more than made up for it once wheel-to-wheel action commenced. Battling in the heats to move up several positions, Elliott was able to put P1 power on the third step of the podium for the day's main event.

"Rotax was the engine to have in the TaG class in Willow Springs," explained P1 Engines Owner Jesus Vasquez. "So, Austin won the Leopard race finishing with two Rotax powered karts behind him and two in front."

Royal McKee was yet another podium finisher for P1 powered drivers, as the TaG Junior competitor improved from a poor qualifying session to finish third in the final in only his second ever TaG Junior event.

TaG Cadet driver Oliver Calvo showed speed with his P1 engine and was quick all weekend. Earning the heat two win, Calvo had a bad start in the main event. Improving all the way to third, back luck ended his day as a crash with lapped traffic forced him to retire from the race. Thomas Mejia also showed the speed of P1 engines, running as high as fourth in the final until contact dashed his hopes of a podium result.

"I'm happy with the results," continued Vasquez. "We have the speed, but unfortunately we can't win them all. Our Mini Rok program has really come along with a vice championship in the Pro Tour last year, and we look to win the title this year."

Up next for P1 Engines is a local Los Angeles Karting Championship (LAKC) event before a busy month of April will see P1 offer trackside support at the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup event in Kershaw, South Carolina, the next SKUSA Pro Tour event in Tucson, Arizona and finally the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) series opener in Mooresville, North Carolina.

P1 Engines will continue to offer trackside support and engine lease options for the SKUSA ProKart Challenge, SKUSA Pro Tour and several other events throughout the United States. Interested parties are asked to contact P1 Engines at Champions@P1Engines.com .
