Superkarts! USA regional program to host seven rounds of racing at four facilities

TEMECULA, CA (February 21, 2012) – The Rocky Mountain area has experienced growth in the sport of karting, thanks in part to a strong core of racers, popular facilities, and hosting the SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals for the past two season. Superkarts! USA is always looking to improve, while also providing the most exciting and customer-friendly race weekends to provide the true SKUSA experience. The 2013 Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge is expanding to a seven round program, visiting four fantastic circuits.
“The 2013 Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge is a culmination of numerous people coming together towards a common goal, a true regional series where a racer can test themselves against the best in the area,” commented SKUSA National Operations Director Stan Bryniarski. “The track owners, series competitors and industry members have all voiced their opinions and concerns, and now we are moving forward. We had more interest in this year’s series than ever, and we will be working throughout the year to broaden our relationship with all groups in the area for the future. If the numbers continue to grow and the series support continues to increase, we could see more races and venues added for 2014. We welcome all racers to come out and see what the program has to offer. The area is a hotbed for karting, thanks to supportive facilities and a thriving regional program. Now with this year’s plan in place, we feel the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge can take karting to the next level.”
The 2013 program for the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge – in addition to all nine SKUSA regional classes – will include the seven categories of the United States Rotax Max Challenge. Drivers competing in the Rotax classes can secure ‘punches’ that count toward participation in the United States Rotax Grand Nationals, held the first week of August in North Carolina. Those racing in the SKUSA divisions will qualify for SuperNationals Priority Registration benefits, along with class champions earning the Guaranteed SuperSunday Grid Positions for the Las Vegas event (class must average five racers for the year in order to receive SuperSunday ticket).
For 2013, the championship will be a seven-round program, counting the best six races toward the point standings. The first stop will visit the first-class Miller Motorsports Park facility – site of the 2012 SKUSA SummerNationals – on May 3-5 for the opening two rounds. Stop number two will take racers back to the IMI Motorsports Complex – a familiar stop for regional racing in the Rocky Mountain states – on May 24-25 for one round of racing. The third facility on the 2013 schedule is the Grand Junction Motor Speedway. The western Colorado course will host rounds four and five on July 5-7, serving as a warm-up event for the 2013 SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals, scheduled two weeks later. The final two rounds send the series to The Track at Centennial – site of the 2012 Pan American Challenge event – on August 16-18. A series banquet is schedule for the night of the final day of competition in Englewood, Colorado, with details forthcoming.
