SKUSA Pro Tour S2 champion jumps to Rotax Challenge of the Americas for the winter months

Article By: CRG-USA

GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO (January 10, 2013) – Sabré Cook, the 2012 Superkarts! USA S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto champion, will kick off her 2013 season this weekend (January 11-13) in Tucson, Arizona. The Rotax Challenge of the Americas begins its new season at the Musselman Honda Circuit with Sabré set to compete in the Senior Max category. This will be her third season competing in the series, and is set on improving her 14th place finish in the final championship standings.

From the first year in 2011 to this coming weekend, Sabré has made great strides in her skills behind the wheel along with knowledge of the CRG chassis she competes on. The 18-year old was one of the top shifterkart drivers in the 2012 season, placing ninth in the eKartingNews.com Stock Moto Driver Rankings. She earned four runner-up finishes on the SKUSA Pro Tour series, including a second place at the SKUSA SuperNationals XVI in November to clinch the class championship. Her experience in the shifterkart translated to a fourth place finish in the Rotax DD2 package at the United States Rotax Grand Nationals last year. It was the first time ever Cook was aboard a DD2 ride, exemplifying her growing ability to adjust around any type of kart she drives. This weekend will be another step in her development, as she will look to display her talent aboard the Senior Max CRG entry.

“It was a great 2012 season for me, as we ran strong all year long and I earned my first national championship,” commented Sabré prior to leaving for Tucson. “One of the areas I still need to improve on is my performance in the single-gear categories at the Senior level. I did well as a Junior but have not been able to transition as I moved up. Last year was an improvement, and with the success I achieved last year, I hope it will continue into this year as we take on the Challenge of the Americas series.”

Cook will be competing in one of the largest categories in the series, with over 30 drivers entered for the opening round in Tucson. The point standings champion will earn a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals - labeled as the ‘Olympics of Karting’ - set to take place in New Orleans this year, the first time the event will be held on United States soil.

“To be part of Team USA and compete at the Rotax Grand Finals would be a real honor,” continued Cook. “The Rotax Grand Finals has become one of the most sought-after titles in the world of karting, and I would like nothing more than to earn the Challenge of the Americas championship and represent the United States.”
