CONCORD, N.C. - The holiday weekend is upon us and kart teams from across the United States are beginning to embark on Daytona Beach, Florida, for the annual December 27-30 WKA Daytona KartWeek at Daytona International Speedway.
This year WKA is aiming for a potential record turnout since the North Carolina-based organization began promoting three series - the Road Race, Manufacturers Cup and Speedway Dirt - together at Daytona International Speedway.
This year's Dirt World Championships event at the quarter-mile DIS Flat Track has over 500 pre-entrants and over 300 parking spots accounted for. With a large walkup entry count, which is common at dirt events, the Daytona Dirt show has good potential for 800 to 1,000 entries.
The Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series' Margay Sprint Championships also boasts over 500 pre-entrants and a full pit area worth of parking spaces reserved. The event should remain stout with 600 to 700 entrants and terrific 2-cycle sprint competition to kick off the six-race 2013 Man Cup national season.
The VEGA / TS Racing National Road Racing Series sits at over 400 pre-entrants with many of enduro-style karting's top racers entered. The Daytona Road Racing Championships surely will feature some of the best competition and strongest fields road racers will compete against all year.
WKA wishes happy holidays and safe travels to all teams and families traveling to Daytona Beach in the coming days. We're looking forward to a great Daytona KartWeek and we want you and your family to be a part of it!
Van-K Wheels signs on as sponsor of Daytona Dirt Fast Time Awards
Set of wheels awarded each Pro class Fast Time winner
DENVER, N.C. - Van-K Wheels has signed on to sponsor the Daytona Dirt World Championships Fast Time Qualifying rounds this December 29 and 30 at the Daytona International Speedway Flat Track.
Van-K, located in Denver, N.C., has posted eight sets of Pro-MAXX wheels for the event. Pro-MAXX is Van-K's new premiere line of machined wheels designed for the dirt oval market. They are the ultimate in performance and have the coolest look.
One set will be awarded to the Van-K Wheels Fast Time winner in each of the seven Pro classes, and the eighth set will go to the quick-time setter in Saturday's Junior 3 Box Stock class.
"With the large fields we're anticipating at this year's Dirt World Championships, we felt it was important the fast time winners get something in return. The Pro classes will be some of the most competitive divisions, so each fast time winner in those seven classes will win a set of Van-K Wheels. We thank Brian Bass from Van-K for stepping up to the plate and supporting this great event with their fine line of kart wheels." WKA's Keith Shampine stated.
A set of Van-K wheels will go to the Fast Time winner in Pro Junior 1, Pro Junior 2, Pro Junior 3 Animal, Pro Junior Clone, Pro Animal, Pro Champ, Pro Clone and Junior 3 Box Stock.
"With the prestige of WKA's Daytona KartWeek and the strong growth of the Dirt World Championships, we felt that this was a great event to showcase our newest kart wheels," said Brian Bass, president of Van-K Wheels. "And these wheels are finished with our new flat black anodized finish."
Van-K Wheels has been involved with karting since the 1980's. From dirt ovals to quarter midgets, Van-K Wheels are sold through a dedicated dealer network nationwide.
