Buddy Rice Karting is loading up, and stacking the deck with drivers headed to the 16th annual SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas. Karting's Superbowl keeps getting bigger and bigger each year and Team BRK Energy is headed there with high hopes and 26 drivers representing 10 different countries. “We have a great stable of drivers this year,” says Indy 500 winner and team principal Buddy Rice. “I'm thrilled to have the factory Energy drivers coming, including reigning KZ2 CIK-FIA European Champion Simas Juodvrisis and American, Gary Carlton.”
Carlton, a past SuperPro winner at Sam Boyd Stadium in 2006 brings a lot of winning experience to the tent, and is someone the BRK Energy Junior drivers will look to for guidance. “I'm really looking forward to getting back in the drivers seat after a year off. Everyone at Energy Corse SRL and BRK have been very supportive leading up to the event,” said an energetic Carlton. “I can only hope that I can give them the best performance out of myself so we can achieve a good result.” Chris Hayes, the 2012 Australian KZ champion will join Carlton in KZ2 SuperPro, while KZ2 European Champion and WSK Euro KZ Champion Simas Juodvrisis is the BRK Energy driver entered for S1. Adam Dowler, 2012 KZ Dutch Champion Milan Dontje, and Jason Faint tackle the fierce S2 category in what is sure to be one of the standout classes of the week.
TAG Senior will be swarming with BRK Energy drivers as Las Vegas local, Matt Johnson and European standout Dennis Olsen head up the charge. Johnson, the SKUSA Pro Kart Challenge 2012 Champion will be joined by fellow American, Pro Kart Challenge TAG Vice Champion Travis Lowe. Factory Energy pilot and Red Bull Racing driver Olsen is coming off a fantastic season abroad. Olsen won the WSK Final Cup and is the KF1 German Champion. Olsen in his last kart race before moving to single seaters will surprise many of the Americans and is sure to factor in for the podium. He is set for 2013 to run the Toyota series in New Zealand and Formula Renault for 2013. John Wallace III, Alejo Fernandez, Vasily Romanov and Olin Galli join them for what might be the hardest class at SuperNats 16.
Christian Brooks and Parker Thompson will steer the BRK Energy TAG Juniors in the right direction. With eight racers entered and solid results all year by the BRK Juniors everyone can expect good performances by Nathan Seegrist, Thomas “turbo” Boost, Justice Lepe, Marco Eakins, Garrett Dixon, Victor Babtista, and Dorian Boccolacci. Boccolacci recently signed with Lotus F1.
Team BRK Energy is fielding two drivers in TAG Cadet. This growing class can look for Dante Yu and Griffen Dowler to be right in the thick of the action from the drop of the first green flag.
Super Karts Brazil champions Francesco Ventre, Olin Galli, and Victor Babtista are joining BRK Energy for the SuperNats as part of their SKB championship prize package. The trio of Brazilians will contest Masters TAG (Ventre), TAG Senior (Galli) and TAG Junior (Babtista). Racing at the RIO Hotel might just give them a home court advantage.
