North American Parolin chassis race team expands for SKUSA Pro Tour finale in Las Vegas

RAYMORE, MO (November 7, 2011) - The growing presence of the Parolin brand in North America continues next week as the Russell Karting Specialties operation heads to the largest karting event in the world - the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVI - outside the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The November 14-18 event welcomes drivers from across the world to compete for the prestigious honor of a SuperNationals title. Eleven of the nearly 500 drivers competing will represent the Parolin brand in three TaG categories, competing for victory as well as positions in the SKUSA Pro Tour standings.

The TaG Master roster for Russell Karting Specialties/Parolin is stacked for the championship chase and overall victory in Las Vegas, enjoying a driver on the podium in the last two years. North Carolina driver Chuck Gafrarar enters the weekend second in the SKUSA Pro Tour standings, just 52 points back following three runner-up finishes on the season. He stood on the podium at the SuperNationals in 2010 in his debut at the event, placing 10th a year ago. Jim Russell Jr. scored the runner-up finish last year, battling for the win to the very end to place Parolin on the podium for the second straight year. While out of the championship chase in eighth spot, Russell has two third-place results on the year to back up his bid for another podium run in Las Vegas.

Chris Koster and Phil Kirby round out the TaG Master driver line-up. Koster has shown the speed to compete for a podium finish throughout the year, as the Arkansas driver enters the Pro Tour finale 10th in the standings. Florida veteran Phil Kirby will make his second SuperNationals start as the Ocala Gran Prix track champion looks to improve on his 25th place performance from a year ago. All four will be powered by Russell Karting Specialties IAME Parilla Leopards.

Over 80 drivers will fight for the TaG Senior SuperNationals title this year with six piloting Parolin karts powered by Russell Karting Specialties Parilla Leopards. Four different countries are represented by the drivers, including international pilots Bruno Vermeeren and Sergio Lopez. Vermeeren is a current endurance sports car driver in Belgium, having competed in the SuperNationals in 2010. Lopez is an international karting driver from Venezuela, making his first start on American soil after contesting the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy championship last season.

The North American contingent in the class comes with strong experience. Wisconsin driver Aaron Telitz is 17th in the Pro Tour points, but has continued to show vast improvement as the season progressed. Running inside the top-10 at the SummerNationals, coupled with a solid open wheel car season this summer, Telitz is primed to showcase his talents at this year’s SuperNationals. Canadian Devon Sandeen is making a return to the big stage, as the 2007 Stars of Karting TaG national champion is set to make his first SuperNationals start since 2008.

Joining him from the great north is young driver Marcus Brodie. The provisional TaG Junior SuperNationals winner in ’09, Brodie will also move over to the Parolin brand for the first time as is Sandeen. Brodie returns to the event after placing 28th in 2010, having spent the last few years working up the ranks in car racing. Rounding out the roster is Kansas driver Nick Martin, making his first SuperNationals start after running TaG Junior for much of the season. The final driver to make up the 2012 Russell Karting Specialties/Parolin team is TaG Cadet driver Brayden Cromwell. The Missouri pilot is making his SuperNationals debut as well, at the young age of eight, to gain the experience of the biggest karting event in the world.
