November 5, 2012 -After successful 2012 World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturer's Cup and International Kart Federation (IKF) programs, P1 Engines and a fleet of highly skilled drivers will head to the granddaddy of them all, the SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals. The 16th edition of the prestigious event is set to take place November 14- 18 on the grounds of the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in the famous Sin City of Las Vegas, Nevada and P1 Engines will look to gamble and score big in a multitude of TaG divisions.
"The 2012 season as been something to remember for both my company and myself," expressed Jesus Vasquez, owner of P1 Engines. "With major race wins all across North America and championships on both the east and west coast of the nation, it is time to head to the biggest race of the year. P1 engines has won this event in the past and we will be looking to do so again."
After winning rounds one and two of the SKUSA Pro Tour and adding a fourth and second in rounds three and four, Arizona resident Phil De La O (Grand Products/Top Kart) will look to continue his run of top five results and garner the TaG Senior title. Always a driver to watch when the going gets tough, look for the Rotax Grand Finals Team USA member to rise to the challenge come Super Sunday.
Joining De La O near the top of the TaG Senior point standings is second year senior pilot Austin Elliott. Currently sitting in the third position in the SKUSA Pro Tour with an outright shot at the title, Elliott and De La O will both look to claim SuperNats glory at the end of the race week.
Other P1 Engines powered TaG Senior drivers will make the trek to Sin City and all of them will be a threat for the victory. World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup front-runners Tommy Andersen (WKA TaG National Champion), Mason Chelootz (WKA Leopard Champion) and Chris Wehrheim will be joined by Rotax standout and multi-time Team USA member Daniel Formal (Rotax Grand Nationals Champion) in the country's biggest event. With a stacked field of potentially 120 drivers, all six P1 Engines powered customers will look to be fast and stay out of trouble during the heat races to secure their spot directly into Sunday's main event.
Never finishing outside the top five, P1 Engines powered Luke Selliken (RPG/Kosmic) leads the field of TaG Junior drivers into Las Vegas. With two race wins on the SKUSA Pro Tour in 2012, Selliken will look to continue his model of consistency on the challenging temporary circuit. Joining Selliken in what could be the battle for the win will be P1 Engines pilot Jake Preston. After missing the first two rounds of the Pro Tour, Preston was back behind the wheel for rounds three and four scoring a pair of solid results. With momentum on his side, Preston will head to the city that never sleeps in the hopes of standing on the top step of the podium.
P1 Engines will also have a trio of other drivers entered in the TaG Junior category as Blaine Rocha, Davey Manthei Jr. and Christian Munoz will all look to fight for the top spot with P1 power.
TaG Cadet pilot Hunter Corbitt (PKS/Top Kart) enters the Las Vegas event as the point leader and will look to add to his pair of SKUSA Pro Tour victories. Joined by Jackson Logsdon, who claimed a pair of top fives and two pole positions in the opening weekend of the series, the duo will take aim at the pointy end of the field. With a host of other P1 Engines powered drivers in the mix, look for the field of 80 to battle hard all week long.
TaG Masters pilot Paul Bonilla (FTK/Arrow) swept the opening weekend of the 2012 SKUSA Pro Tour but ran into some bad luck in rounds three and four. Poised to make a run at the title, Bonilla will look to get back on track and keep ahead of his rivals to ensure a shot at the crown on Super Sunday. Randy Froom and Jason Bell will join Bonilla in the TaG Masters field as the trio looks to sweep the podium.
Vasquez added, "I will be trackside in Las Vegas to service all my customers and ensure they are at the front of the field. With a fully stocked trailer with equipment to rebuild engines at the track, I will be ready for every scenario in what is set to be an event for the ages."
