"Winning at every level through the United States"
Phoenix, Arizona - September 27, 2012 - Getting together back in 2008, Phil De La O and Ariel Castro have had an enormous amount of success. From competing with a TaG power plant to the KF3 program at the Championship Karting International (CKI) program, De La O and AM Engines have been at the front of the pack. The same could be said for the 2012 karting season as De La O, coupled with his AM Engines Rotax powered Top Kart, went on to claim pole positions, podium results, race wins and ultimately a ticket to this seasons Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) later this year in Portimao, Portugal.
"Ariel Castro and AM Engines has been my engine builder for several years now," expressed Phil De La O. "He is one of the major reasons for why I have been a front-runner and he always provides great engine packages. He is hands on at the track and always willing to ensure his customers and drivers are at the front of the pack."
2012 has seen great success for the potent engine/driver combination as they started their assault on the Rotax Senior class back in January at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas. With the championship winner receiving and invitation to the RMCGF, AM Engines and De La O had only one goal. After starting the campaign out with an unfortunate DNF, De La O put together a string of consistent finishes and podium results en route to a victory in the final round of the series. With his impressive results and pole positions, De La O and AM Engines would celebrate with the championship and invitation to join Team USA.
Onwards to the 2012 Rotax Pan American Championships, De La O utilized an AM Engines powered Sodi Kart. Trading in his Top Kart for the opportunity to compete with and test the same Sodi Kart model that he will be using at the Grand Finals in December, De La O was the fastest Rotax Senior driver throughout the weekend. After qualifying on the front row, the Arizona resident would claim a heat race win as well as the fastest lap in all three heat races.
Back to the track on Championship Sunday, De La O would go on to claim the prefinal win and main event victory as he was classified as the champion of the Rotax Senior division at the Pan Am Championships. De La O wasn't the only AM Engines powered driver to stand on the top of the podium as the winners of Micro Max, Mini Max and Junior Max were also under the AM Engines banner.
De La O added, "Ariel's work ethic and knowledge building Rotax engines was shown in Colorado. To win every class from Micro Max to Senior Max is a testament in itself and is truly amazing. The performances from his drivers throughout the year are directly related to his experience with the Rotax engine. Ariel has been a pleasure to work with and I look forward to continuing our relationship and adding more wins to both of our resumes."
Though the national season of Rotax competition is all but complete in the United States, Phil De La O will continue to work with AM Engines and Ariel Castro as they further their preparations for the "Olympics of Karting" overseas. With driving experience on some of the world's biggest stages, De La O looks forward to represent the United States and utilize all his gained knowledge to obtain a positive result.
De La O continued, "My goal this year was to get back to the Grand Finals. Now that I am part of Team USA, I will look to represent my country well and hope that we have the necessary speed, results and luck to challenge for the victory."
Phil would like to thank his sponsors and supporters for a successful event: Grand Products, Team Top Kart USA, AM Engines, Ariel Castro, De La O Motorsports, Red Bull, Sodi Kart, Tim Lobaugh, Dallas Karting Center, Mike Jones, Peoria Cleaners and Northwest Floor and Wall.
