Sweeps Featured in Both Days of I-5 Corridor Series Action at PGP

6/30/2011

Featuring the top karters in the Pacific Northwest and two of the premier racing venues in the country, the second season of the I-5 Corridor Series continues to provide thrills and excitement to racers and fans alike.

With 69 racers on hand this past weekend, the I-5 Series shifted north to PGP Motorsports Park for Races 3 and 4 this past weekend after the opening two rounds were held at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex (PARC) on May 28-29 in Canby, Ore. A large field of racers and spectators enjoyed both beautiful weather and spirited on-track action.

Sweeps were the order of the day on Saturday, with Kyle Wick (Rotax Mini), Dalton Egger (Rotax Junior), Russell Francis (Rotax Senior), Jeff Garner (Rotax Master), Joey Wimsett (Shifter Light) and Maurice Shawver (Rental Expert) capturing their class pole and then following that with heat and final race victories. In the SS200 Clone Light class Todd Brown registered the fastest time in qualifying but Ty Pieschl captured the wins in both the heat and final.

Following Saturday’s event series racers and their families were able to enjoy on-site food, live music and the annual Northwest Audi Expo show and get together — one of the largest all-Audi shows in the country.

Many of the same racers appeared in the top-3 of Sunday’s results but mixed in were some fresh names. Qual/heat/final sweeps were recorded by Edward Portz (Rotax Micro), Kyle Wick (Rotax Mini), Stephanova Nekeel (Rotax Senior), Jeff Garner (Rotax Master), Joey Wimsett (Shifter Light) and Cameron Grimes-Hess (Rental Expert).

Complete results are available on www.mylaps.com and photos from this past weekend can be viewed on PGP’s Facebook page, “PGP Motorsports Park.” Updated standings and complete information on the I-5 Series can be found at www.I5CorridorSeries.com.
