June 28, 2011 - Finishing almost every weekend near the front of the field, it was another outstanding weekend for DeFrancesco Racing (DFR) at the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships/Pan American Challenge qualifying round north of the border. Taking place at the ultra-fast Mosport International Karting facility, the DeFrancesco brothers performed well in their respective classes.
Leading the way was the elder of the DeFrancesco's as Devlin used his international racing experience to score a pair of podium results including Sunday's main event win. After claiming a second place result in Saturday's action including the fastest lap of the final, DeFranceso went on a tear on Sunday scoring the pole position, heat race win and main event victory to sweep the day's action in the Rotax Mini Max division with his Supertune USA powered FA Kart.
"Devlin improved from his previous day's results which shows the growing of a driver," expressed DFR Team Manager Nick Mitchell. "He was able to provide feedback after Saturday that helped his tuner make the right calls to advance him to the top step of the podium on Sunday. Devlin will be a real threat for the victory at the United States Rotax Grand Nationals and the Pan American Finale later this year."
Younger brother Lachlan showed great improvement in Canada. Competing in the Rotax Micro Max class, Lachlan battled with the lead group throughout the race weekend. As one of the youngest drivers in the division, Lachlan continues to learn from his older brother and experience under the DFR team tent as he scored some of his best results of the season with a sixth place finish on Saturday and a solid top five result on Sunday.
Mitchell continued, "I can't explain Lachlan's improvement in the past six months. He is really stepping up his game and with a long time left in the Micro Max class, I have no doubt that he will soon be battling for podiums and race wins."
The DFR Racing Team enjoyed no time off as they were back at the track on Monday morning to complete some more laps. Testing kart setups and different motor combinations for events south of the border, the DFR squad is looking to step up their game and add to their already impressive resume of results.
