"Rotax Pan American Qualifier and ECKC at Mosport"

June 21, 2011 - Traveling back to their homeland, the DeFrancesco tandem of Devlin and Lachlan will look to stand atop the podium at the Rotax Pan American Challenge qualifying round this coming weekend at the Mosport International Karting (MIK) facility. Taking place near Bowmanville, Ontario and hosted by the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship series, competition will be fierce as many non-series regulars will be mixed in with heated championship point battles in the double weekend format.
"We are really looking forward to the event in Canada," expressed DeFrancesco Racing (DFR) Team Manager Nick Mitchell. "We have been all over the world lately with events in Europe and testing in Utah but Canada is a special place for the DeFrancesco boys. Now living in Southern Florida, Devlin and Lachlan will take their developing skills north of the border and look to steal a couple of race wins and podiums."
While Devlin has been globetrotting for the past four months, Lachlan has been seen on track at the Florida Winter Tour, Pan American Challenge events as well as South Florida races at the Homestead Karting Complex. While both will utilize Supertune USA power, Devlin will look to battle in the talent-laden Rotax Mini Max category while Lachlan will continue to develop as a driver in the Micro Max class.
Mitchell continued, "The Rotax drivers in Canada are some of the best and as a team, we feel that we should race against them to prepare for bigger events later this year. This will be the first of many tests as we look to get ready for the United States Rotax Grand Nationals, Pan American Championship Finale and the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals."
With unofficial practice taking place anytime this week, series action will begin to take shape on Friday as drivers look to find that elusive speed and setup for the two single day competitions. With a full day of action slated for Saturday including morning warm-up, qualifying, heat race and main event, the same will take place on Sunday giving drivers a pair of chances to be crowned king of Mosport.
