This past weekend the first two rounds of the WCC kicked off in Chilliwack, BC. Team Karting Canada/Italkart made the trek out with 7 karts under the tent. Defending World Champion Scott Campbell was back to try to earn his spot on Team Canada to defend his title. With sunny skies on Thursday and Friday in open practice the team would set themselves in a good spot for the weekend of racing. Upon arrival at the track on Saturday the weather would not be the same as the rain would set in for 1 ½ days.
The first day of racing would be very up and down for the team with drivers moving up and down the grids with all the tough racing that was going on. By the end of the day the team would have only one podium finish. Scott Campbell would win the overall DD2 race by 17.5 second over defending Canadian National Champion Kyle Herder.
On Sunday the weather finally stopped raining with the pre-final and final under overcast skies but a dry track. Teams scrambled to find the right set up for the green track. Again the team would have some good and bad luck with some off track excursions. Scott Campbell would be the only team member to hit the top of the podium by winning the overall DD2 race by 5.2 seconds over Kyle Herder again. Travis MacDonald would also hit the podium with a third in DD2.
