April 29, 2011 - After a successful start to the 2011 racing season, Prime Powersports team pilot Luke Chudleigh will travel to Tucson, Arizona for the opening round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour. With the Honda Racing/HPD SpringNationals taking place at the thirteen corner Musselman Honda Circuit, Chudleigh will advance to the senior ranks of the sport and compete in the TaG Senior division.
"This will be my first action in the TaG Senior class," expressed Chudleigh. "We just finished action at the Florida Winter Tour where I competed in two different junior classes. It was a good start to the racing season but now I am ready for some SKUSA action."
With a full field of drivers confirmed for the event, Chudleigh will be forced to compete against race winners, national champions as well as professional drivers if he looks to stand atop the podium next weekend. Still at junior age, Chudleigh could legally race in the 12 - 15 age category for another full season but the advance up in classes will allow increased competition with more mature and race proven drivers.
"There are several very talented drivers that will be racing. A quick look at the entry list shows drivers from across North America including competitors that have competed in the IndyCar Series. This could be the series of the future and I want to start it off right by making a name for myself at the first event."
As noted earlier, Chudleigh and his Prime Powersports CRG competed at the Florida Winter Tour, a premiere series that takes place in the sunshine state during the winter months. Competing in both the TaG Junior and Rotax Junior categories, the Canadian driver claimed seven top five results in twelve events as well as two heat race wins in the TaG Junior class. When the dust had finally settled after the last weekends in March, the CRG standout would claim a sixth place result in the Rotax Junior overall series point standings while becoming the vice-champion in TaG Junior.
A long with the impressive results, Chudleigh was also the co-winner of the $25,000 Skip Barber Scholarship for his combined finishes in the TaG Junior and Rotax Junior divisions. Proving his unique skills, the talented Canadian driver was able to run up front in both disciplines and prove that he is a future star in the making.
While Chudleigh enjoys little time away from the racetrack, his 2011 schedule is jam packed with high profile events all across the country. Having already completed the Florida Winter Tour and with the start of the SKUSA Pro Tour this coming weekend, the multi-time race winner will also see battle in the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Canadian National Championships, Superkarts! USA SuperNationals as well as select events across North America.
Throughout 2011, Chudleigh will compete on a Prime Powersports prepared CRG and will work with tuners Trevor Wickens and Brandon Whales.
