NORTH LIBERTY, IN (April 13, 2011) – The 2011 racing season will kick off at Michiana Raceway Park with one of the Midwest’s biggest karting series this coming weekend, the Great Lakes Sprint Series. This will be the first real test for many local racers at the facility and several from all over the Midwestern states.
“We expect a very good season opener for both our track and the series,” said Garry Lobaugh, owner of Michiana Raceway Park. “The Great Lakes Sprint Series has always brought out a large number of great racers and our facility will host their first event of the year. We would encourage any local racers or those interested in racing to come out and visit the facility this weekend.”
Located only miles from downtown South Bend, Michiana Raceway Park has been a haven for local kart racers for several years and continues to undergo upgrades and improvements to make it one of the nicest karting facilities in the country. With a family friendly atmosphere, complete with several viewing areas and a playground, making it an inviting place for both racers and spectators.
Michiana Raceway Park is anxious to begin the festivities of the event with move-in scheduled for Thursday and practice beginning on Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday will hold several classes of racing beginning each day after practice and qualifying is complete.
