Press release prepared by: Race Tech Development

February 21, 2011 – The second round of the Florida Winter Tour (FWT) Formula Kart weekend is now in the books and a familiar name was back at the top of the results sheets in DeFrancesco Racing (DFR). DFR had three drivers in this past weekend’s action taking home pole positions, podium results and fast lap awards as they continue to chase the prestigious Florida Winter Tour titles.

“DFR drivers performed well at the new Palm Beach layout,” expressed DFR Team Manager Nick Mitchell. “With three drivers under the tent, we were able to take home solid results and fight for race wins. With this weekend complete, our focus will now shift to the Rotax weekend of competition where we will have several drivers in our program.”

Leading the way in the Vortex TaG Cadet division was DFR’s Devlin DeFrancesco. The up and coming driver scored the pole position for both Saturday and Sunday’s competition as he looked forward to taking home the race win. After progressing through the prefinals, DeFrancesco would score a pair of podium results with a second place finish on Saturday and backed it up with a solid third place result on Sunday.

The younger of the DeFrancesco brothers, Lachlan, continued to show improvement at the Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) taking home a fourteenth and seventeenth place result. In talent-laden field with equal powerplants, the seven year old continues to gain experience with each and every race weekend and will be a threat for race wins and championships in years to come.

After two rounds of action, Devlin currently sits second in the overall points battle while younger brother Lachlan holds the fifteenth position.

In the junior ranks, it was Orlando Kart Center Rotax Junior double race winner Dore Chaponick who would do battle in the Formula Leopard Junior category. After struggling with engine issues during Friday’s official test day, Chaponick got his equipment in tune for the main event as he managed to take home a sixth place result in Saturday’s racing action. Looking to improve on Sunday, Chaponick battled with the lead group of competitors but would take home a respectable fourth place finish.
