February 20, 2011 – After a solid sixth place finish in one of the opening weekend events at the Orlando Kart Center, Floridian AJ Myers will look to improve on those results this coming weekend and make a run at the Rotax Junior championship. With the event taking place at the Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) in Jupiter, Florida, Myers will once again be behind the wheel of the #2 Kartsport North America Arrow entry in the hopes to stand atop the podium.

“We didn’t have a great start to the Florida Winter Tour,” expressed Myers from his home in Tampa, Florida. “On Saturday, I started the main event in the fourth position and had a good shot to challenge for the win. Unfortunately, I was hit from behind in the opening set of corners causing me to spin and finish deep in the field. I was determined to make up for the points lost on Sunday and managed to finish in the sixth position.”

With the pair of results from Orlando, Myers currently sits sixth in the Rotax Junior point standings with four events remaining. No stranger to the front of the field, the 2008 North Florida State champion and Rotax Mini Max United States Grand National champion will look to be at the pointy end of the stout 68 kart junior field.

Myers continued, “The junior field at the Florida Winter Tour is very tough this year. There are drivers from all over the world who are competing including Rotax World Finals competitors, national champions and state champions. To make a run at the championship is tough, but I am willing to accept any challenge.”

2011 will see the young up and coming talent compete at several high profile series and events throughout North America. After completing the Florida Winter Tour, Myers will also see action in the South Florida Rotax Max Challenge program, the United States Rotax Grand Nationals at the famed Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah as well as the Rotax Pan-American Challenge and the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals in Las Vegas.
