February 15, 2011 - As the 2011 F2000 Championship Series national season fast approaches, Venezulan pilot Robert La Rocca continues to impress in the Southern Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) F2000 division. Teamed with HP-Tech Motorsport, La Rocca claimed both main event victories in his first outing with their new Ralph Firman Racing (RFR) car at the tricky Sebring International Raceway.
"This was a great weekend for us as we came home with a pair of victories as well as learned a lot about the new car," expressed La Rocca. "The Ralph Firman F2000 car is a true machine and a great handling car. Even though we have more test weekends planned, I am quite confident as we head into the 2011 national campaign."
On the weekend, La Rocca would see battle with several other high caliber teams and drivers as they continued to develop the RFR machine. After qualifying second in class for both events, La Rocca went on a tear to take the lead, claim the fastest lap of the race, lead the most laps as well as stand atop the podium for a pair of solid victories.
La Rocca continued, "The F2000 Pro Series is just around the corner and I am very excited. I cannot thank my sponsors and team enough for all of their support and hard work in preparation for the upcoming year."
While even though La Rocca has shown speed and success in the RFR car, he and his Fort Lauderdale-based Venezuelan squad will continue to develop as a team this coming weekend. Looking to complete some valuable testing, the HP-Tech Motorsport squad consisting of Jorge Herrera, Juan Herrera, Robert Cao, John Shapiro and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Ponce, will travel south to the Homestead-Miami Speedway road course to see action at the Florida Automobile Racing Association (FARA) event.
La Rocca added, "While we continue to pound out test laps, we will also look to continue the hot streak of race wins in Florida this weekend."
