DFR Looks to Continue Success at FWT

"Six drivers will see action in nine classes"

Press release prepared by: Race Tech Development

February 13, 2011 – With a huge amount of success at the opening round of the 2011 Florida Winter Tour (FWT), DeFrancesco Racing (DFR) will be back in action in round two at the Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) in Jupiter, Florida. With six drivers seeing action in nine classes over the double race weekend format, DFR will look to add to their already impressive resume.

Three competitors will see action in both event weekends as the DeFrancesco brothers of Devlin and Lachlan as well as junior driver Dore Chaponick will look for race wins and podiums. While the younger DeFrancesco, Lachlan, continues to rack up laps of experience and gain knowledge towards the 2011 racing season, both Devlin and Dore are in the hunt for season titles.

The elder of the DeFrancesco brothers started his 2011 Florida Winter Tour campaign off in fine form scoring a pole position and main event win followed by a second place result in the TaG Cadet category. The Supertune USA powered competitor currently leads the TaG Cadet point’s race after the first of three weekends of action. The following weekend would see DeFrancesco run in the front half of the field in the Rotax Mini Max class scoring a fifth place result on Sunday.

While Chaponick struggled slightly during the TaG Junior weekend of competition, the Miami, Florida pilot made up for it in the Rotax Junior class. Dominating the field all weekend long, Chaponick scored the main event victories in both Saturday and Sunday’s action to take a commanding point lead to the second round. As part of Team USA at last season’s Rotax World Finals, Chaponick has shown the speed and composure to take the title this season.

Joining Chaponick in the Rotax Junior class will be up and coming competitor Sebastian Coulson. The former Mini Max front runner is entering his second junior race of the season and will look to gain speed and knowledge from the team experience as the 2011 season moves forward. Also seeing action on the race weekend will be Mini Max driver Cole Glasson. The Texas area pilot showed the speed to run at the front of the pack in Orlando, but racing luck wasn’t on his side that weekend. Looking to turn it around at PBIR, Glasson will try and do the double and sweep the weekend’s action.

Reigning Rotax DD2 World Champion and GP3 front runner Daniel Morad will be back behind the wheel of a DFR machine as he looks to build off his pair of top five results. Morad was a late addition to the DFR program for Orlando and will be more prepared as they head to the second round in a week’s time.
