“Six race schedule set to challenge some of Florida’s best teams and drivers”

Ocala, Florida – January 9, 2011 – The 2011 Ocala Gran Prix Local Series and North Florida Rotax Max Challenge (NFRMC) Schedules have now been set and have undergone some minor changes compared to the 2010 program. Looking to provide one of the best and most competitive series in the region, the OGP Local Series will offer a six race program and as well as host the North Florida Rotax Challenge series for the latter five events.
“I wanted to put together a series that gave the participants something to work towards,” expressed North Florida Rotax President Jorge Arellano. “Not only have we coupled the Rotax qualifying series with several of our local club events, we have also put a prize package in place to help championship contenders compete at the United States Grand Nationals.”
With the anticipated entry numbers to be high for the series, Ocala Gran prix has stepped up to the plate to help sponsor the champions and vice-champions in the NFRMC program. Not only will the champion receive free entry, driver pit pass, ten gallons of race fuel, two sets of race tires and one set of race tires for the United States Grand Nationals, but second place will also. Award winners will be required to cover their own transport, lodging and crash damage for the event. As usual, the OGP Local program will run similar to the 2010 season with weekend cook-outs and an awards program.
Arellano continued, “Just to show that I have not put these prizes in place for OGP drivers, any sponsored team competitors of Ocala Gran Prix will be required to race the series but will not be awarded the year ending prizes. For example, if OGP team drivers finish first and second in the championship, they will be classified as champion and vice-champion but the awards will automatically go to the third and fourth place finishers in the series. The goal is to increase series participation but also provide the most challenging competition from the state of Florida.”
The Local Series points will be tabulated separate from the North Florida Rotax Max Challenge and have a separate overall championship.
The six race schedule will begin in two weeks time with the first event taking place on January 15th. Though the first event will not count towards the NFRMC championship standings, races two through six will, with the series champions being crowned at the end of the final event.
The 2011 North Florida Rotax Max Challenge Schedule:
Local Race #1 – January 15th
NFRMC Race #1 and Local Race #2 – February 5th
NFRMC Race #2 and Local Race #3 – March 12th
NFRMC Race #3 and Local Race#4 – April 16th
NFRMC Race #4 and Local Race #5 – May 28th
NFRMC Race #5 and Local Race #6 – June 11th
The Ocala Gran Prix Local Series will host two yearly championships in 2011 with the second half of the season beginning in July. Information and scheduling for the Summer/Fall series will be announced shortly.
