Photo Cutline: When its dealers come together, PSL is an incredible force.
PSL Karting had an incredible year in 2010. The season began with a pair of Florida Winter Tour Championships, and from there the list of titles just kept on growing and growing: four Canadian National Champions, two US National Champions, two Pan-American Champions, three Eastern Canadian Champions, a Western Canadian Champion, and five different Champions from its home province of Quebec. The CRG outfit sent nine drivers from three different countries to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, and had eighteen drivers from four different countries under its tent at the SuperKarts USA! SuperNationals. With a season such as that, all would agree PSL Karting is surely one of the most successful karting operations in the world. But, would you say, #1 in the world? For CRG in 2010, yes you should.
Beginning the month of December with its traditional End-of-Season Awards Ceremony in Lonato, Italy, CRG SpA awarded PSL Karting top spot on its world podium, recognizing it as the #1 CRG dealer on the planet. PSL Operations Manager and Race Team Director Stephane St-Charles was on hand to accept both the award, and some very kind words from CRG Chairman Giancarlo Tinini.
“It is always a good thing to meet all the supporters of our brand and all our friends,” he said at the ceremony. “It is a pleasure to award the drivers, but I like this occasion in particular because we can stay all together and celebrate. It is as well an ideal occasion to award the work of our dealers, which have been playing an important role for us for a long time. Canada, with PSL, achieved the best performance.”
The news was very rewarding to PSL President Dominic Labrecque, who saw it as the culmination of a decade’s effort. “We were very excited to learn that we had achieved #1 for the year,” he said in looking back at the season. “For me, it is an accomplishment from eleven years of hard work. The PSL network is well implemented in Canada, and for sure such an award would be impossible without such great people. My staff, the dealers, the drivers and customers throughout the world, and the great collaboration of Mr. Tinini at CRG made it possible. I really just want to say Thank You to all of them for helping PSL achieve #1 in the world this year.”
The PSL program is without a doubt one of the most involved racing operations across North America, and in Canada its dealer network is extensive, another fact quickly pointed out by Labrecque. From a home base in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, PSL has branched out to include PSL Atlantic with Mike Dobbelsteyn; PSL Quebec with Alex Louet; PSL at ICAR with Marc Arsenault; and PSL Ontario with Ken Flute. Each is a force within its own racing circles, and when the operation comes together as it did at the Canadian National Championships, the results can be astounding.
With the 2011 season now just around the corner, PSL Karting will look to once again get its year off to a championship start, and look to recreate its success of 2010. For more information on Team PSL Karting and PSL Engines, please visit pslkarting.com.
