Region 6 Gold Cup Banquet was held in Tacoma, Washington. Much anticipation was felt amongst the IAME cup racers as the end of the night would see three lucky winners walk away with brand new Parilla/IAME engines. All senior and junior IAME Cup competitors’ names were placed in a bucket for a random draw. The one stipulation set by Italian Motors was that in order to be eligible to win, your presence was necessary at the banquet. This lead to an interesting turn of events, as the first two names pulled for the Senior Leoaprd engine were not in attendance. In the end big smiles were worn by Keegan Laithwaite, Scott Hargrove and Sara Brinkac as they head into the 2011 with shiny new engines.
Italian Motors was also proud to introduce the striking new IAME Cup perpetual trophies for the classes of the IAME cup. Each trophy was dedicated to a particular woman who has significantly contributed to the sport in the North West. Marilyn Lehman, Virginia Kousmanen, and the late Dorothy Hayes were incredible forces who devoted much of their lives to karting. Everyone was honored to have Marilyn Lehman at the banquet. She received a standing ovation and gave a moving appreciation speech.
