Northwest Kart Driver to Move Up

Kailia Walter, Salem, Oregon kart racer for the past three seasons is moving up to full size race cars for the 2011 race season. Sixteen year old Kailia, a junior at West Salem High School has spent the last three seasons racing karts, first locally, then regionally in the Northwest and Western Canada. Beginning in early spring she will race a Mazda Spec Miata in the SCCA Northwest Region.
Early in May of 2010 she was added to the Seattle Karting/Ital Kart team of Seattle, Washington. Winner of 9 out of 15 starts in 2010, Kailia captured the Seattle regional championship of the Puget Sound Karting Association. Living in Salem, but driving out of Seattle during the 2010 season, she competed with the best of the West among young drivers and fared well. Other members of her SKS/Ital Kart team included Johnny Michael Blair, Senior TaG driver, Krissy (Blair) Wells, Senior TaG driver, and Kyle Byers, Junior Rotax driver.

In January, 2011 Kailia will fly to Los Angeles to meet with the ownership group of a NASCAR team who is demonstrating interest in her skills and future development. Kailia wishes to give special thanks to her primary sponsors, Salem Heating and Sheet Metal, Lennox Industries, Break the Chain Apparel, and Supervinyl.
