“Track improvements increase Ocala Gran Prix’s track status”

October 20, 2010 – As the 2010 Florida Karting Championship Series (FKCS) came to a close, members of the board put forth a survey to all teams and competitors in the series to see what they could do better to improve their program. With an overwhelming response taking place, one thing stood out for the Ocala Gran Prix crew and that was the fact that their facility was ranked the most favorite place to race in the state of Florida.
“I am very happy to see the results of the survey,” expressed OGP President Jorge Arellano. “We have made constant improvements at the facility over the past few years and look to continue to make OGP the best place to race in Florida. We have added several club programs to our calendar to give locals a chance to come and experience OGP on a regular basis.”
Ocala Gran Prix has hosted events in 2010 including the Florida Winter Tour, Florida Karting Championship Series, North Florida Rotax Max Challenge as well as local club events and the official Rotax Max Grand Finals Team USA test. The facility has contracted a food vendor to be on site every race weekend to provide teams, families and competitors a place to enjoy food while not having to leave the property.
Last year, Ocala Gran Prix went under several upgrades as they were closed to the public for three months. A completely new racing surface, curbing system, drainage, light standards and more than 4000 feet of linear grandstands were added to Florida’s favorite track. Three removable television monitors placed in strategic areas provide tuners and families with live timing during bigger events.
Not only does Ocala Gran Prix operate a local series and a race track, they also have a full service kart shop offering preparation services and engine building as well as a full stock of Tony Kart and Rotax parts. The track offers driver training and mechanic training programs as well as trailer storage and rental karts on non event days.

Arellano added, “I need to thank my track crew for all of their hard work. Without them, OGP would not be what it is today.”
Ocala Gran Prix and Tony Kart are also continuing to expand their dealership network. Any interested parties are asked to contact Kyle Kraus or Mike Maurini at OGP.
