“Hodgson, Neri and Rogero on track for countless laps in past month”

November 2, 2010 – Though the official Team USA test at Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) in mid-November has passed, all drivers from the Ocala Gran Prix squad have been on track looking to gain the necessary experience before heading overseas next week. DD2 national champion Cody Hodgson has been pounding out laps in a CRG chassis while Floridian’s Nick Neri and Ashley Rogero continue to do laps in their ST-30 Sodi Karts.
“Last year we did a little testing before travelling to Egypt,” expressed OGP President Jorge Arellano. “This year, we have been full throttle trying to do as many laps, on different tracks in every situation possible. Some of our drivers have turned over 1500 test and race laps and keep finding the speed as they look to challenge for the win in Italy.”
Rotax Grand Finals podium finisher and two time defending US National Champion Cody Hodgson received shipment of a CRG chassis early last week and has been on track every day since. Turning laps at both low speed and high speed circuits, Hodgson is looking to climb two more steps on the podium and provide the United States their first Rotax World Championship.
Not to be outdone, junior pilots Neri and Rogero have been to the Ocala Gran Prix and Orlando Kart Center circuits in both club races and test days completing more than 1500 laps each. Utilizing new Rotax motors, Sodi Kart chassis and the D1 tires, both drivers have adapted their driving style and worked with their crew to quickly get up to speed in the different chassis. Both drivers are coming off career years that saw them claim championships in the World Karting Association Manufacturer’s Cup (3), Florida Winter Tour (2) and Florida Karting Championship Series (4) as well as countless pole positions and fast lap awards.
Arellano continued, “We are in final preparation for Italy and even though we will travel next week, all three drivers will continue their testing this week and weekend. I am confident that Ocala Gran Prix drivers and crew can perform under the constant pressures of such an international event.”
Along with the preparation for the Rotax World Finals, Ocala Gran Prix is also continuing to expand their dealership network with a high priority in both the New York/New Jersey area and Wisconsin.
