There is just one round left in the Stars of PGP competitive karting series, with many class titles to be decided by Saturday’s Championship Finale at PGP Motorsports Park.
With beautiful weather in the forecast and special guest Matt Jaskol — a longtime super-pro karter, and former Formula BMW driver for Team Red Bull — competing, what could be better than heading out to the region’s premier motorsports venue?
To encourage drivers who have never raced at PGP before to come out and sample the .82-mile, 14-turn state-of-the-art track, owners Paul and Juli Zalud are waiving the $25 non-member fee for all first-time racers.
There will also be a rental kart class in Saturday’s finale for drivers 15 and older who have previously raced in a PGP Rental Kart Series event. The cost is $95 and pre-registration is required. Call PGP at (253) 639-7223 to register.
Can’t make it to PGP in person but still want to watch the show? You can, as there will be a live video feed of the event accessible through the PGP website at www.PacificGP.com. For future events, PGP will also include an audio feed — all part of our continued effort to improve and enhance the racing experience at the track named a “Best Destination” in the KING 5 Evening Magazine Best of Western Washington contest.
The addition of Jaskol racing for the Hammer Nutrition Intrepid Team to the field for Saturday’s Championship Finale should make an already exciting and competitive event even more so. The owner of numerous karting championship titles, the Las Vegas native has also raced in the IndyLights series and his Formula BMW victory in the 2004 Montreal Grand Prix was the first ever North American win for Team Red Bull. He added two more wins that year, at Indianapolis and Laguna Seca, before becoming the first rookie to win the ASA Speed Truck Challenge championship in 2005.
Great weather, tight championship battles and a superstar driver like Matt Jaskol to meet and watch race. All that and more at PGP Motorsports Park this Saturday during the Championship Finale of the Stars of PGP Series.
