September 14th, 2010 – P1 Engines powered drivers were back on track this weekend at the International Karting Federation (IKF) Region 7 event at the Apex Karting Center in Perris, California. Flexing their muscles in almost every division, P1 Engines powered drivers went on to take two pole positions, three main event victories and eleven top five results.

“It was another great weekend of results,” expressed P1 Engines Jesus Vasquez. “This event is a great momentum builder for us as we enter the last quarter of the season. There are a few high profile events on the horizon and I hope that we are able to have as much success there as we have already in 2010.”

A host of P1 Engines powered drivers entered the PRD Spec Senior class as Bobby Kelley, Kolby Araki, Matt Johnson, Ty Matta and Maya Gutierrez would all utilize P1 power. Kelley looked to have the edge early as he took the pole position and heat race win before finishing second in the main event. Araki joined Kelley on the front row for the prefinal after qualifying P2, making it an all P1 Engines front row.

After the dust had settled and the final checkered flag had flown in the main event, P1 Engines swept the top five positions as Johnston took the win ahead of Kelley and Matta. Rounding out the top five were Kolby Araki and Maya Gutierrez.

In the KPV 1 class, Chance Skaufel and national level competitor Zane Smith would do battle. Smith would get the edge early qualifying in the second position before finishing third in both the prefinal and main event. Skaufel qualified fifth in the morning session but came alive in the afternoon scoring the heat race win and pole position for the final. Skaufel took advantage of the front row starting spot and drove to the main event win.

Jason Hannegan would take control of the PRD Junior 2 class scoring the pole position, heat race win and main event victory to stand atop the podium. Doing double duty on the weekend, Hannegan would also compete in the KPV 2 class where he would take home another top five result.

Adam Iavelli and Aaron Aguirre would compete in the PRD Junior 1 class with Iavelli taking home a podium result. After qualifying in the second spot, the P1 Engines powered pilot would take the third step of the podium. Aguirre would battle hard all day long scoring another top five result for the California based engine builder.

P1 Engines will be back on track this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey for the final round in the World Karting Association Manufacturer’s Cup program.
