The following is a statement released by the World Karting Association regarding the six trustees that were suspended in June.
Tony Granata, Don Guilbeault, Robby Harper, Steve Jacobson, Bobby Moore and Steve Rumsey have been temporarily reinstated as WKA Master Members, but not as Trustees, until further notice.
The Master Memberships of Misters Granata, Guilbeault, Harper, Jacobson, Moore and Rumsey were temporarily suspended pending their right to appeal to the WKA Board of Trustees. As a result of their temporary suspensions, Misters Granata, Guilbeault, Harper, Jacobson, Moore and Rumsey were removed as WKA Trustees. On July 16, 2010, a lawsuit was filed against WKA alleging that the temporary suspensions as Master Members, and removals as Trustees, were improper. In that lawsuit, they challenge the temporary suspensions of their Master Memberships and their removal as WKA Trustees.
WKA and the plaintiffs have agreed that, pending further proceedings in the litigation, they will be temporarily reinstated as Master Members but will not be reinstated by WKA as Trustees of WKA. This will enable them to participate in upcoming WKA events pending further proceedings in the litigation.
