Wimsett Moves to SSC East/CRG for 2010

SSC East/CRG released today the announcement of signing a new driver for the 2010 driver roster. Pacific Northwest driver Joey Wimsett will move to the SSC East/CRG squad for the new season, beginning with this weekend’s inaugural CKI Florida Cup Series event at Homestead.

Oregon-based Wimsett stormed onto the national karting scene over the past couple years, quickly becoming known as a top competitor. In 2009, he earned accolades at the international level with a fourth place result at the Rotax Grand Finals in Egypt, fueled by his podium finish at the US Rotax Grand Nationals. He was also ranked #1 in the nation by eKartingNews.com in November 2009. In 2008, Wimsett was the KF2 champion in the Florida Winter Tour and an eKartingNews.com Rising Star nominee. Joey will kick-off the 2010 season running Rotax Senior at the CKI Florida Cup.

Wimsett will join others carrying the SSC East/CRG flag in 2010:

Arie Ouimet – The 2009 CKI KF2 National Champion and 2008 US Rotax Max Challenge National Champion, Ouimet was named eKartingNews.com Rising Star in 2008. He will run KF2 and join Wimsett in the Rotax Senior class at the Florida Cup.

Gary Carlton – Carlton is a long-time CRG driver with many titles including 2009 CKI KZ2 National Champion along with ’06 &’07 Stars of Karting National Champion. In 2010, Carlton will race periodically on the SSC East/CRG team and act as a technical advisor while he juggles time competing with the European CRG Team and in the 2010 Jim Russell Championship series.

Camden Geise – Geise is coming off a strong 2009 campaign highlighted by a top three finish in the IKF Grand Nationals and as runner-up in the CKI IAME Jr. National Championship. He will kick off the 2010 season running Rotax Jr. and KF3 at the CKI Florida Cup.

Alex Manglass – 2009 featured numerous podiums and fourth place finish in the final CKI KZ2 standings for Manglass. He will run KZ2 in CKI’s WSK North American Series this season, his fourth on the SSC East CRG Team.

Mark Pellegrini – Success at the regional level propelled Pellegrini onto the national scene in 2009, with strong results in the US Rotax Max Challenge and CKI. He kicks-off the 2010 campaign at the CKI Florida Cup running KF2 and Rotax Senior.

Madeline Komar – Her 2009 season featured a third place finish in the final CKI KF3 standings and consistent top five results. Komar joins the SSC East/CRG team for the first time this season, launching her 2010 season by moving into the KF2 class at the CKI Florida Cup.

Evan Komar – Another new member of the SSC East/CRG Team in 2010, Evan will run in KF3 at the CKI Florida Cup. Komar will look to build on his success in CKI, where he was a consistent top 10 finisher in 2009.

“The team is shaping up and looks to be one of our best – a good mix of returning stars and promising new faces. We’re looking forward to another great season – with great results – not only from this strong group of racers, but also from our top-notch tuners and equipment,” states Dave Davies, SSC East’s Director of Operations. “I’d like to welcome Joey – he’s an exciting driver with a bright future. Same goes for Evan and Madeline Komar, both made great progress last season and show a lot of promise. I expect many podiums for the team this year.”

Arrive and drive opportunities are available at events throughout the 2010 season under the SSC East CRG tent.
