2009 USRMC National Points Champions-Micro Max

1/5/2010

Over the next several weeks we will introduce the Top Ten in each of the six US Rotax Max Challenge National Points classes for 2009. This system ranks every USRMC member that competes in any official USRMC throughout the United States. The 6 classes include drivers as young as 7 and some still racing past the age of 60. The points system developed in 2007 uses a weight factor based on the number of registered members in each class in a series. Bonus points are available for each competitor if a minimum number of racers compete for the event and if 2 or more series race together. While only head to head competition can determine true champions, and that is what is done at the US Grand Nationals each year, you will see that the many of the top 10 drivers in each class were also found at the top of the charts at the 2009 US Grand Nationals.

Micro Max
The newest USRMC class in just 2 years grew over 500% from 2008 to 2009. As an exhibition class for the second year at the US Grand Nationals 21 competitors took the track. In the National Points chase 70 Micro Max competitors recorded points with Logan Sargeant being crowned as the 2009 USRMC Micro Max National Points Champion. Combining this with his dominating victory at the 2009 USRMC Grand Nationals, Logan captured the top two Micro Max competitions’ in the United States.
Three RMax Challenge series are represented in the top 10. In addition to Logan 3 of his South Florida competitors captured spots in the top 10. MRP and SWRC both are represented with 3 members each. As this class continues to grow we can expect the number of series represented in the top 10 to increase and the points spread between the competitors to decrease.
