The Championship Karting International Florida Cup took a giant step forward today as Supertune USA and DeFrancesco Racing (Supertune/DFR) have secured presenting sponsorship for the first annual Florida Cup Series. With all three series events taking place at the Homestead Karting Complex on the grounds of Homestead-Miami Speedway, Supertune/DFR will be front and center in the Sunshine State as they provide the necessary support to help the program gain momentum towards the future.
“Supertune USA and DFR were a new operation in 2009 and were present at high profile events last season,” stated CKI’s Director of Operations Kevin Williams. “We are happy to have them support the first annual Florida Cup. With the talent they have put into their company and race team, I am confident that they will have several drivers chasing for Florida Cup championships in 2010. The official name of the series will now be ‘The Championship Karting International Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DFR’”
Supertune USA and DFR are the total package when it comes to racing teams and a karting company. Despite the teams short existence DFR and Supertune USA has more than 30 years experience in motorsports and is poised to change the face of karting in North America. As of January 2010, the team and race shop will be based out of Miami, Florida and is headed by legendary karter Bobby Wilson. A full Rotax Max engine build and repair shop is operated by Ben Cruttenden as the duo also deals the Alonso Kart chassis line and runs a full national level race team.
“The Florida Cup program is a series that is taking shape nicely and I am happy that Supertune USA and DFR can be part of the experience,” stated Andy DeFrancesco, owner of DFR. “The CKI crew puts on top notch events that are second to none in North America. I am extremely excited about CKI’s methods as a ladder racing system for up and coming aspiring drivers and I am happy to jump on board and help with the first annual Florida Cup Series.”
Along with trackside signage, promotional spots during the each and every event in the Florida Cup Series and a strong race team presence, Supertune USA and DFR will have chassis and engine packages on display and for sale at each event. Company representatives will be available to discuss future racing opportunities and rental packages for upcoming 2010 events.
The Championship Karting International program and WSK North America Series will next see action with their first annual CKI Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DFR. With the program taking place at the Homestead Karting Center just south of Miami, Florida, the Florida Cup Series will award more than $130,000.00 in cash and prizes including a brand new Mazda 3.
