CKI 2010 Florida Cup Schedule

After fielding input and ideas from teams and competitors, Championship Karting International has unveiled an updated 2010 schedule, including a Florida series and a six-event national series. The CKI Florida Cup Series will feature three rounds all held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway; one round each in January, February and March. The six-event national series offers five Grand Prix events, plus a season ending Grand Championship to decide the national champions. The slate features some of the country’s hottest tracks, and best locations – making the 2010 CKI season a world class experience.

“After talking with many of the teams and competitors who support CKI to get a sense of what they were looking for – we tweaked next year’s line-up. Instead of regional competitions we’ve decided to focus on establishing a true National Championship series format. Plus, CKI racers wanted to kick-off the season as soon as possible and soak in some of that great Florida weather – so we’re launching the Florida Cup series. It’ll bring out some of the best early season competition at a great track,” states CKI Co-Founder Phil DeLaO. “The 2010 CKI schedule promises world-class events, showcasing the great competition, all staged at top notch racing facilities. With the help of some of the best locations across North America, we’ve put together a schedule that is second to none.”

“We’re happy to see CKI establish a program in Florida. They’ve had a very successful first season. The 2010 schedule, with the Florida Cup and a six-event National Series, looks fantastic going forward,” states Tony Schroeder, President of Homestead Karting (homesteadkarting.net). “Homestead Karting is pleased to partner with them for a great off-season program here.”

Here’s a preview of the 2010 schedule and locations from CKI Director of Operations, Kevin Williams:

CKI Florida Cup, Homestead-Miami Speedway (Jan 29-31, Feb 19-21, March 12-14)
“Florida is the ideal location for early season competition; especially at a world class track like Homestead. The weather is always terrific that time of year and they’ve done a great job making the track a 1st class layout.”

Grand Prix of New Castle, New Castle Motorsports Park (April 9 - 11)
“The famed track at New Castle was the birthplace of CKI – and our inaugural race there was in 2009 was unforgettable. So it’s fitting that we’ll host events in 2010 at New Castle – it’s an unbelievable track and facility.”

Grand Prix of Reno, Reno Resort Hotel, Reno, Nevada (May 14-16)
“We wanted to have an event in 2010 at a first class resort, where CKI competitors can just walk out the door and right onto the track, without ever having to leave the resort. It also offers us the opportunity to set up a CKI signature track and deliver a layout that’s precisely what our racers want. It’s also the ideal location for racers, their families, friends and fellow competitors to spend time together before, during and after racing – a great build on the great CKI community.”

Grand Prix of Colorado, Grand Junction Motor Speedway (June 25-27)
“Most everyone in the karting community would agree that Grand Junction Motor Speedway is a premier facility. Similar to New Castle it offers a great track, plus a top-notch club house. It’s very comfortable and very customer friendly. Grand Junction is a highly sought after destination for big time events – we’re excited to bring CKI to Grand Junction.”

Grand Prix of New Jersey, New Jersey Motorsports Park (July 23-25)
“New Jersey Motorsports Park was the site of our 2nd event in 2009, and the experience was top shelf – great course, great field, great facility – it’s a rising star as a premier Motorsports complex. You can’t beat the location – just an hour or so drive from Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Washington.”

Grand Prix of New Castle, New Castle Motorsports Park (August 13-15)
“This will be the second time around at New Castle in 2010; so the competitors will know what to expect. It’s also the final event before the Grand Championship, so the points battle for national crowns will be full force – the racing will be intense. So being at New Castle will be terrific.”

CKI 2010 CKI Grand Championship (October 22-24)
“The location of the CKI Grand Championship is yet to be announced, but judging by the rest of the 2010 line-up, I can promise you it’ll be outstanding. Stay tuned for details about our plans for a triumphant season-ending championship.”

Here’s perspective from CKI Co-Founder RJ Valentine: “CKI has enjoyed an outstanding inaugural season. With the support of our competitors and sponsors, we’ve had terrific competition and big prizes at some of America’s greatest tracks. We’ll keep building on that momentum in 2010,” states Valentine. “We’ve learned a lot this year and will continue to work hard to deliver on the promise to bring kart racing in America to a new level –enhancing it as the ideal ladder system to professional Motorsports; training aspiring drivers in all facets of Motorsports. I look forward to another memorable campaign in 2010.”
