CONCORD, N.C. - The December 27-30 WKA Daytona KartWeek is rapidly approaching and we're now into the last week to pre-register for the marquee karting event, which boasts big national events for Manufacturers Cup 2-cycle sprint, enduro-style Road Racing and the Dirt World Championships on the quarter-mile Daytona International Speedway Flat Track.

Pre-entries continue to roll in for each event. The largest of the three races looks to be the Dirt World Championships at the Flat Track, which last year hit over 800 entrants in one of the best-attended WKA national events in recent memory.
Dirt parking requests have surpassed last year's totals and the World Championships appears it will once again boast over 800 entrants. Officials are optimistic the numbers may be greater than last year's totals.
The Margay Sprint Championships will once again pit many of the country's best 2-cycle sprint racers and teams against one another at the Daytona Sprint Track, a course that is raced only once each year.
The new Parilla Junior class (TaG Junior) - open to Parilla Leopard and X30 power plants - has received good attention and entries already, and with the recent announcement that Arai Helmet and Butler Built have posted $500 to win Parilla Junior at each 2014 WKA Man Cup nationals, the WKA office has received a number of class entries the last several business days.
The senior version of Parilla - appropriately titled Parilla Senior - will pay $1,000 to the overall winner, posted by HYTORC of Texas, and it appears the class will be the best-attended senior division at this year's Sprint Championships. Many of the eastern half of the country's best TaG racers will be gunning for the $1,000 paycheck at this year's event.
One of the most historic and tradition-rich events WKA promotes is the Road Race Championships on the 3.56-mile DIS superspeedway road course. Pre-entry numbers for the Road Race Championships are strong, and it appears the turnout will be better than last year's, which is always a positive. The event has racers traveling from all over the country to compete on Daytona's high banks, including entrants from Oklahoma, Texas, California, and a host of teams coming down from New England and the Upper Midwest regions.
