"DFR pilot back behind the wheel after taking a year off"

October 21, 2013 – Looking to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Lachlan DeFrancesco has returned to karting and started right where he left off. Working with Octane Sports Development's (OSD) Nick Mitchell, Lachlan is racing under the DeFrancesco Racing (DFR) banner and competing at several events throughout the state of Florida.
Prepping for a return to the 2014 Florida Winter Tour, DeFrancesco competed at a pair of circuits that the tour will visit in the upcoming season. Traveling south to the Homestead Karting facility, DeFrancesco would get back into the seat of his Supertune USA powered machine and drove his way to a pair of victories in only his first event. Taking to the challenging karting circuit only yards away from the famed Homestead Miami Speedway, which will host the finale event of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Lachlan proved that he will be a threat at each and every event he enters as he looks to challenge for race wins and series championships.
"Lachlan has the natural skills and abilities to become a consistent winner," explained OSD's Nick Mitchell. "The year off set him back a little but we will be working hard to ensure that he is ready for upcoming events."
The following weekend, DeFrancesco would head to Orlando, Florida and take on the Orlando Kart Center facility. This time competing in the Vortex Mini Rok ranks, Lachlan would battle hard at the pointy end of the field. Arriving on Saturday morning and with no testing laps, DeFrancesco would go straight into morning warm-up, before qualifying and wheel-to-wheel action commenced. When the final checkered flag had flown on the weekend, the future champion would cross the stripe in the second position and celebrate on the podium later that day.
Mitchell continued, "These past two events have been a great start for Lachlan and will be beneficial for his future development and growth."
With the upcoming 2014 Florida Winter Tour kicking off in January, Lachlan will continue his training throughout Florida. Taking on club and local events over the next few months, the youngest of the DeFrancesco Racing pilots will work hard to ensure he is ready to go and fight at the front of the field.
