CRG committed to make its three young drivers shine in the first round of the Junior World Championship: the Romanian Marcu Dionisios, the Brit Archie Tillett and the Argentinian Bruno Romano at the debut with the works team.
The first of the two rounds of the CIK-FIA World Championship for category KF Junior got to its heart at the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno and CRG's works team is represented by three youngsters: the expert Romanian driver Marcu Dionisios, the Brit Archie Tillett and the Argentinian racer Bruno Romano, with the latter two drivers at their first experiences in this category.
STEEP START FOR CRG'S YOUNGSTERS
The start in Friday's qualifying has been a bit troubled with some technical problems to solve but also because – Dionisios apart – the other two CRG's young drivers Tillett and Romano are starting to get acquainted with the challenging 1.699 meters long circuit of Sarno. Qualifying practice were therefore mainly used to learn setup solutions for CRG chassis and engine. Archie Tillett on CRG-Tm set the 21st time, Bruno Romano (CRG-Bmb) the 22nd and Marcu Dionisios (CRG-Bmb) the 24th.
A PROMPT RECOVER IN THE HEATS
The afternoon saw the beginning of a string of quite close heats that will qualify drivers to the Final scheduled for Sunday. A good recover came since the beginning from Marcu Dionisios who got a good 11th place in his heat gaining back ten places on the starting grid, while Archie Tillett ended 22nd after working his way through up to half of the pack. Bruno Romano put in an excellent start and an awesome recover that made him climb ten places during the first lap but then a contact with a rival relegated him to the back.
The programme of the weekend will continue on Saturday October 5th with all remaining qualifying heats, while the two Prefinals are scheduled for Sunday from 11.50 (GMT+2) and the Final will follow at 15.05; the live coverage of the race will be available on line at www.cikfia.com and www.cikfiachampionship.com, while the Finals will also go on air on RAI Sport 2 on Tuesday October 8th.
